No matter what type of party you're planning -- whether it's the company holiday party, corporate retreat, cocktail party, birthday dinner, wedding ceremony and reception, The Abbey makes a stunning backdrop for your event. The courtyard patio -- located between the Abbey building and the old Rectory -- boasts heirloom rose gardens, fountains, and an outside bar. It's the ideal way to incorporate the outdoors in your event.
Built in the 1850's, the building now known as the 9th Street Abbey has enjoyed a long varied past. Built as St. Paul's German Evangelical Church, the original congregation left in 1911. In 1924 part of St. John Nepomuk, located on Tucker & Lafayette Streets, occupied the building as Holy Trinity Slovak Church until 1986. Patty Long Catering, Inc. bought the building and converted into a special events venue in 1992.

Located at 112 Sidney Street, Beyond Broadway was formerly the site of the A.E. Schmidt billiards factory. This building dates back to 1847 and stands on the original banks of the Mississippi River. It offers a relaxed, warm, inviting space with a rustic ambiance. A grand stone fireplace sets off the main area of this charming venue, along with punched tin ceilings and a large built-in dance floor. A newly constructed patio allows seating and space for guests to stand and relax in an outdoor setting.

Located at 1808 South 9th Street in historic Soulard. Built in the 1850’s, the 9th Street Loft was a former classroom in the Abbey building. Joan Long started Patty Long Catering over 30 years ago. Her fun-loving and positive spirit paired with her natural gift for hospitality and hard work made her vision for her company a reality. Joan returns the love of her community by volunteering and serving on the boards at the YMCA, St. Peter and Paul, and Harris House. Joan enjoys spending time with her husband and kids, frequently retreating to their farm in Houston, Missouri. She works out at the YMCA, and enjoys the Soulard neighborhood whenever and however she can!
Jackie joined the PLC team in 2011 and quickly added her unique touch to the company. A St. Louis native and huge Cardinals fan, she lives in St. Louis with her husband and two children. Her educational background focused on early childhood education but her heart continued to bring her back to the hospitality industry. She has been immersed in the restaurant and catering world for almost 20 years and her experience and passion have shaped Jackie into an extraordinary general manager and sales specialist. Jackie’s exceptional people skills and obsession with organization, along with her knack for teaching and inspiring others, makes her invaluable when overseeing all aspects of Patty Long Catering. With Joan’s integrity and honor as a beacon, Jackie continues to grow the business by providing clients with phenomenal cuisine and service.
Julia joined the PLC team in 2009. She was born and raised in Belleville, Illinois, but now happily resides in St. Louis with husband and Boston Terriers. Her educational background, focused in Hospitality Management and Business Administration, paired with a creative mind and passion for great food make her a successful Catering Sales Manager. Julia books Patty Long Catering’s exclusive venues --the 9th Street Abbey, 9th Street Loft & Beyond Broadway. She focuses on ensuring each client has a personal, customized, and unforgettable party.
After recently coming off the road while working in the travel industry, Giselle is elated to move back to St. Louis and rejoin the Patty Long team as an event & sales manager. Having worked two years as an event manager for PLC, Giselle is excited to dive into the world of selling events at Patty Long’s Beyond Broadway venue and off-premise catering services. Her experience, professionalism, and easy-going nature are great additions to the Patty Long team and she could not be happier to return to the St. Louis hospitality industry.
Dan, Operations Manager, has been at the heart of the PLC team since 2000. He is a St. Louis native with over 33 years of experience in the hospitality industry. Dan honed his skills while owning and operating his own restaurant, Black-Tie Gourmet, for over 12 years. Dan’s extensive knowledge of all things catering, together with his incomparable creative flair, result in standing ovations from our guests time after time.
Chef Arthur joined the PLC team in 2016. He is an enthusiastic and innovative chef with over 20 years of experience both inside and outside of the US. After studying at the Institute of Culinary Arts in California, he worked his way through Michelin Star rated kitchens throughout Italy, New York City, and Washington D.C. Arthur believes exciting meals are created through fresh and local ingredients, creating a harmonious kitchen in synchronicity with both the environment and the customers. He strives to give each of his guests a breathtaking culinary experience that they will never forget. Outside of the kitchen, Arthur enjoys traveling as well as spending time with family and friends.
Christina has been with PLC since 2006 beginning as a hostess at Meriwether's Restaurant and has grown with our company transitioning to a part-time Event Manager. She holds a degree in Communication from Saint Louis University and a Master's Degree from Washington University in St. Louis. Christina has a passion for event planning and works professionally as a project manager. She loves providing excellent customer service to clients ensuring all their needs are meet with enthusiasm. In 2015, she was recognized as a Hospitality Super Hero by the St. Louis Convention & Visitors Commission for her exceptional service.
Rachel joined the PLC team in 2016 upon graduating from Saint Louis University with a degree in Hospitality Management. Originally from Edwardsville, IL Rachel felt a connection and a desire to be a part of such an established and reputable company where she could learn and grow her passion for hospitality and service. Beginning her time here at Patty Long Catering as an intern, her abilities and warm personality has led her to a full time position as a talented Event Manager that both clients and vendors love.
Mike joined the PLC team in April of 2014. Born and raised in Centerville, IL Mike has contributed over 9 years in the Hospitality Industry. As Staffing Coordinator, Mike has displayed wonderful characteristics of leadership and compassion to not only the clients but as well as the Patty Long Catering staff. Mike is involved in many operational areas where he contributes his passion for executing flawless events and knowledge of all things food and beverage.
